Gelato Vs Ice Cream? What’s the difference?

Both are popular delicious desserts, and both play in the same playground but there is quite a noticeable difference. Is there really a difference between Gelato and Ice Cream? Is gelato just a fancy term for Ice cream?
Both Ice cream and gelato use the same ingredients, but that’s about it that they have in common. Gelato is actually the Italian word for ice cream, however, we believe that there is difference between the two.
Gelato is known as the Italian traditional way of making ice cream. Gelato is the richer, denser, and smoother with a higher proportion of milk than ice cream. Ice cream is churned more quickly than gelato, folding much more air into the mixture. This means that ice cream has a lighter, fluffier texture. Ice cream is served as cold as possible to avoid melting and to maintain its light fluffy texture, and is typically rolled into tight balls using an ice cream scoop. Gelato is served at a slightly warmer temperature than ice cream 10–15°F (6–8°C), so its texture stays silkier and softer. Because of this, and the denseness, gelato tends to pack much more flavourful experience than ice-cream and usually takes its flavours from natural sources.
Both Gelato and ice–cream carry a lot of sugar but gelato traditionally made with much less fat. Which one is better you ask? Well it all boils down to personal preference, but we have to admit, our heart has been stolen by silky soft flavourful gelato!
